Welcome to Time Machines UK, home to vintage wristwatches, servicing and repairs.
Travel back in time to an age before digital, before PCs, smartphones, satellites and throw-away culture. In that era a wristwatch was something you kept for life, something to be treasured and passed from one generation to the next.
The mechanical watch movements of the 1960s and 1970s represent the culmination of hundreds of years of technological development. With the advent of quartz watches in the late 1970s this technology became obsolete.
The great thing about a watch that works with obsolete technology is: you don't have to worry about it becoming obsolete! What is a 5 year-old smartphone worth today? Nothing. What will the latest smartwatch be worth in 5 years time? Nothing. And not just in monetary value. Even if you want to keep using your iphone4 (for sentimental reasons, let's say, because someone gave to you for your birthday), you won't be able to because it no longer works. None of the apps will run on it. Your iphone4 is worthless in every sense (other than for the value of some rare-earth metals contained within).
Which brings us to vintage mechanical watches. So long as they are well looked after, and occasionally serviced, you can be confident that they will continue to work for many years to come.
